Zebra Announces New P205 Card Printer |

CAMARILLO, Calif., July 27, 2004 — Zebra Technologies (NASDAQ: ZBRA), a worldwide leader in card printing and bar code labeling solutions, today announced the availability of the Zebra P205 card printer. Affordable, compact and easy to use, the P205 is a single-sided monochrome plastic card printer designed for organizations looking to create personalized identification, membership, and guest or loyalty cards.
“The P205 printer is ideal for retailers and other businesses that want do monochrome printing on blank cards or that want to personalize pre-printed membership or gift cards,” explained Bob Anderson, director of worldwide marketing for Zebra card printers. “The P205 is designed for on-demand printing in a wide range of environments. Its small footprint and front-feed design make it the perfect printer for small offices or retail stores with limited counter space.”
Organizations looking to cost effectively create large numbers of personalized color cards can order custom cards with a pre-printed color logo and images, then personalize the cards with a Zebra P205 printer. The printer easily adds information such as a customer's name, black & white photo, account number, and length of affiliation to the front or back of a card. Additional information can also be printed on the card in the form of a bar code.
A magnetic stripe encoder is available as a factory-installed option. With this option, the P205 can be used to store even more information on the card being printed, including an account balance or membership renewal date.
The user-friendly Zebra P205 utilizes a drop-in ribbon cartridge for easy loading, with a design that fits only one way in the printer for mistake-proof ribbon replacement. Both the detachable, reusable card feeder and output hopper are located on the front of the printer for space savings and added convenience.
The P205’s clamshell design allows easy access to the print head and cleaning cartridge for quick ribbon changes and cleaning. An integrated card hopper opens like a drawbridge, with a drop-down tray that closes flush with the enclosure when not in use. The printer will not function with its lid up, keeping the printer mechanism and print head free from dust and debris.
The P205 features a self-test button for quick troubleshooting, and a handy pocket guide reference for loading, cleaning and reading status messages. Cleaning reminders and error messages come up as text messages on the user’s computer monitor as well as specific colors on the LED display on the printer itself.
